<p><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Job Summary</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Provides direct and indirect care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse (RN). Performs a variety of invasive and non invasive technical skills and specialized patient care procedures as well as other duties to support 24 hours of hospital operations.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Job Specific Duties</strong></span></p><ul><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Receives patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge. Initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing nursing activities. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Assists patients with activities of daily living to include bathing, personal hygiene, nutrition and comfort measures, changing bed linens, and diapers. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Performs vital signs, heights, weights, head circumference & other measurements and records the results in the Electronic Health Record according to nursing and hospital policies & procedures. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Renders care to patients in adherence with written protocols under the supervision of the RN and assists with patient procedures such as; venipuncture/phlebotomy, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens & phlebotomy according to health system standards, Point of Care Testing, ensuring EKG's as ordered, Bladder Scanning and other duties as assigned.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Informs RN of pertinent information and/or communicates all significant changes in patient condition or behavior. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Recognizes accepted priorities for care needs and takes direction for re-prioritizing from the RN.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Restocks supplies such as gloves, gowns, linen, medical equipment, assists with room preparation and turnover.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Identifies the needs of the patient and provides necessary supplies accordingly. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes/practices cost containment. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Maintains patient rooms and nursing station clean at all times.</span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Assists with transporting patients for special procedures. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Performs other assigned tasks to promote efficient practice operation and contributes to the provision of quality patient care. </span></li><li><span style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, sans-serif;">Greets and welcomes patients, families and visitors. Communicates information regarding NCHS services and delivers excellent and timely service and support. </span></li></ul>Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT/Paramedic - active licensure in the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- American Heart Association BLS maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
Crisis Prevention Institute CPI or Safety Care maintain active and in good standing throughout employment within 6 months of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborates in a team environment.
- Strong time management skills.
- Computer literate.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work in a collaborative environment and follow the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Nursing Leader.
- Ability to apply principles of evidenced-based practice, analytical thinking and service excellence in practice.
